Healthy Snack Ideas
- A piece or cup of fresh fruit and ¼ cup of nuts (preferably raw)
- Vegetables paired with hummus
- Celery with natural almond or peanut butter
- Handful of raw sunflower or pumpkin seeds
- One cup of plain whole milk yogurt with ½ cup fresh or frozen berries and a drizzle of honey
- Cottage cheese with fresh fruit
- Edamame (soybeans steamed or chilled). Look for non-genetically modified and organic version.
- ½ to 1 cup of black beans with a bit of cheese and salsa
- Popcorn with garlic powder or cinnamon (You can take ¼ cup popcorn kernels and put them in a plain brown sandwich bag and stick it in the microwave. This is cheaper than store bought microwave popcorn and it does not have the chemical residue of commercial microwave popcorn brands)
- 1 cup of homemade chili
- Sliced yellow and red bell peppers for the sweet, crunchy fix
- Cucumber, red onions and rice wine vinegar salad
